You can be a hero!

Mecosta Recycles relies on volunteers and we need you!

Volunteering for Mecosta Recycles might be right for you if you’re looking for something fun and active to do for a just handful of hours each month.

What do volunteers do?

Getting started is so easy; you’ll feel useful in no time!

  • Volunteers help patrons sort materials in the right places.
  • Volunteers change out bags and carts when they get full.
  • If comfortable doing so, volunteers unload materials into balers then run the baler to compact the materials.
  • Let us know if you can operate a hi-lo or forklift!

Where will you be working?

  • Volunteers are in a sheltered but open air environment. Wear clothing appropriate for the temperature.
  • Work gloves are strongly recommended.
  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are a must.

What else can I do?

Saturdays and Mondays don’t work for you? There are lots of ways to help at Recycle Mecosta! We need help sorting our book section, keeping our garden area looking nice, or shredding paper. These are things that can be done other times during the week. Email Elvira at [email protected] if you’re interested in these other tasks.

Come join us!

If you’re interested in volunteering, contact Beth Hoeh or Elvira Rajala. It’s so easy to get started, you can also just stop by and introduce yourself when we’re open on Mondays and Saturdays any time between 9am and 1pm. Our volunteers have a wide variety of schedules: we have people come weekly, monthly, or just when they aren’t travelling. We’ll even show you where the candy stash is!
